As reported by the New York Times this morning, the new wave of urban retail is open in Chicago. No mention of the building that houses it (other than an ill-phrased reference to downtown’s “odd architecture” being an impediment to chain retail in dense downtowns). But any history goon worth their undergrad degree will recognize it….
I was there for the festivities on opening day. The building looks beautiful and Target did a decent job of featuring the interior architectural details.
It’s going to be a huge success in the Loop.
