sant’ivo alla sapienza

Nothing clever to add to this…one of Borromini’s best, seen in good company this morning on a glorious day in Rome.  After a week of pretty hardcore Nervi work it was a good morning to just soak in something wonderful…

  1. Realizing your “free”time in Rome is precious, but if you’ve never seen these, Borromini’s S. Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, Bernini’s S. Andrea al Quirinale will knock your socks off as will the clarity of the EC S. Sabina.

    • S. Carlo alle Quattro Fontane is also a favorite–a mind-blowing interior to try to sketch (I’ve force-marched students there for exactly that reason more than once…) I haven’t been to Santa Sabina in a long time, but in addition to the church I love the orange grove next door–a fantastic view over the city…(we can see it from our kitchen, not sure if that counts!)
